Interested in working at The Arts Academy?

Two thousand and eight was a very exciting year for us. We opened our doors with approximately 120 9th graders. Students participated in math, humanities, science, spanish, and various arts classes. We have a strong student-centered school community and a rigorous 21st century curriculum which achieves state standards through various core indicators of progress.

If you are interested in applying for a position at our school, please read the following criteria:

Faculty will be expected to participate in creating performance-based assessments such as portfolios and exhibitions utilizing web 2.0 tools. Furthermore, interdisciplinary projects are emphasized as the vision of The Arts Academy is that academic subjects are not taught in isolation. Connectedness as well as looking closely at student work is ongoing in teacher professional development. Self-reflective professional development is also ongoing. Dual certification or having expertise in multiple fields, as well as knowledge of web 2.0 tools, will be favored during the site selection process.

The staff at The Arts Academy are part of a professional learning community who share classroom practices as well as develop lessons that support students in learning to advocate for themselves. Advocacy is an important dimension of the school.
